Jesus speaks in Luke 6:38 about judgement, condemnation and forgiveness. This very scripture is often used to collect a great offering, but Jesus is clearly not speaking of money. One of the most freeing things you can do in life is to forgive. We all know that offense will come. The question is how do we handle it? Jesus spends little time talking about the offender. He is much more concerned about how we respond to the offense and offender.
We are so quick to judge one another! Do we really know someone’s intentions? Have we walked in another’s shoes? Yet we openly and frequently judge. Do we have the right to condemn? Only the creator of a thing has the right to condemn it, yet we do it so often. Who have we ever created that we can rightfully condemn? No one. God is the creator of all.
Don’t Judge, Don’t Condemn; Forgive is a lesson in how to live up to the direct command of Jesus. It is necessary for in forgiveness, is freedom. Jesus wants us to experience fullness of joy. It is only through experiencing His love that we are able to walk in forgiveness. The very forgiveness we withhold from one, we need from another.
